OK, so I thought we would run a couple of mini-comps parallel to get you guys started whilst we see what happens at the conference. This one is to celebrate my favourite new blogger page element.
On the right are two slideshow page elements - these are elements where you can add a search term or a user name and then google creates a slide show from picasa, flickr or photobucket. I think this is absolutely fab! much fun to be had! For info I'm using flickr.
The top one is self-explanatory (I think) but does anyone want to take a guess at the search term or user name that generated the second slideshow (there is a sort of clue in the title). Correct guesses will result in points for the guesser (of course) and me changing the slideshow for another round. The search terms/user names will always be topical ie LTA terms, EDUCAUSE or Texas/Kentucky related.

Are they all tagged:
"go away you british wierdo and stop stalking me" ?
Btw, tell Brian that the bagels look very nice, though I'm not sure about the carraway seed version.
Not exactly the terms/username used but yeah you definitely get the idea!!! - 1 point for getting it right and a bonus point for making me laugh outloud in the middle of my preconference session which at the moment seems to be about molecular structures - so obviously no one else is laughing
Glad to be of service. (you sure you're at the right conference?)
Anyway - I must congratulate you on a superb start to this years blog - doggie steps, strip searches, the question is - can you maintain this quality??
Anyway - have a good conference both of you - and I look forward to hearing about this afternoons session. You have brought cakes to give away haven't you?
h
Thanks smodge - we've bought chocolate kisses and fruit candies - if they didn't think the brits were strange before....
will try to sustain the standard of drivel (feeling the pressure now)
oh-oh, the presenter has just started talking about "of course, you need to have a detailed knowledge of XML and UNIX", I think I'd rather we went back to molecular biology.
signed
woefully inadequate of Texas
The tag is virtuallabs
a point for Brian
If I had to guess, the reason you are there is ELI, so it is probably eli or eli2008 or eli08 or something.
1 more for Brian
digital
(though i have no idea why a picture of a cat wrapped in blankets would be tagged with digital...but it made me laugh)
oh, wait, digital camera! i guess that's why :)
you're right liz - says something very interesting about the digital fluency skills of the people tagging this stuff though doesn't it? I wonder if they are also tagged "photo"??
learning
university
though there was also a slight campaign trail feeling about a couple of them. did you know barack obama has his own flickr account?
your right (of course) Liz. Is it just me, or is this competition revealing something very interesting/alarming about how people tag stuff?
The current tag is sanantonio I believe.
I thought it was zoo..
brian is right - not sure elephants and rhinoa are what I would have expected to find when searching for san antonio!
librarian!
that's got to be the weirdest one yet - a picture of a college building tagged with librarian. what's the world coming to...with this approach to tagging, you can almost understand their resistance to folksonomies replacing the dewey decimal system. almost.
well done!
I know what you mean about the tagging, I'm very scared
btw - can't get to the bottom of your "easy peasy question" - it is driving me crazy!!!
was going to leave this until someone else had got the answer. but, unfortunately, some of the images were way too disturbing to leave on public display. so, the answer is:
"student"
freaky. just freaky. especially as at least 3 of the photos are from one of my flickr buddies - arrrrrrrrrrgh! i need new friends...or maybe just some friends...
well done - I was very concerned about the anatomical diagrams, especially the fallopian tubes.
horizon.
(yes, it was the fallopian tubes that were upsetting me - i almost didn't want to post the answer for this one, this lot of pics are much prettier)
2 more points for liz
oooo, don't swoop in on this one yet - it's wikipedia!
:)
sorry for delay guys - I found myself "unexpectedly in Kentucky" now back online - on and off.
Presidium seems like the answer to hello, can I help you?
so, how do the folks at presidium feel about being associated with a picture of beef cattle? i'm just curious... :)
(although, i guess the question could also be asked of the cattle: how do you feel being associated with a multi-channel contact center?)
and while you're asking the presidium folk (people, not cattle) you might also want to get their reaction to the alcatraz association...
:)
It's the daisy duke shorts that worried me the most - well done Brian - have a point
googlewhack!
well done Liz - you can't keep a good flickr junkie down, can ya!
much fun was had with Mike and Andrew on duelling laptops but the funniest moment was when we searched for pyjamas and something I don't recall, and Andrew says we've spelt pyjamas wrong!! brace yourself...they spell it pajamas....hmmm, not pretty. It cropped up again later and Andrew says to Mike "they don't spell it like that, they put a 'y' in it", Mike, incredulous to the point of almost falling off the chair, throws up his arms and shouts "where!?!?!?!?!?!"
You went where? answer
Somerset, but why did you go there? Somerset, Kentucky?
a point for Brian!
I got it - ok insider information and all that - KNOWLEDGE!
Well, I was about to make my first attempt for this competition, (which I hadn't quite understood until now) but K has beaten me to it...
Knowledge Manager
Knowledge Base
and London cabbies have to learn the Knowledge
a point for Kay and a "welcome" 1/2 point for Richard for the explanation
they're all from the same user: llao llao (though when i first saw the pictures, i thought you'd uncovered a secret vault of as-yet-unpublished e-learning materials from the c____ group)
oooooh! I guess i'd better let you have that one - I hadn't noticed that they were all from the same person! They are actually all scarily tagged "elearning"...so with the cartoons - I hear your c____ reference.
